Cot Wlân Gymreig Wrth Fesur | A Bespoke Welsh Woollen Coat (2024)
Originally commissioned for an exhibition in St Fagans National Museum of History, this poetic, observational Welsh-language documentary follows internationally trained tailor Catherine Davies over the course of a year as she creates several bespoke Welsh woollen garments by hand. Central to the project was a group of sanctuary seekers at Oasis who developed sewing skills whilst transforming all the project offcuts into slippers, bags and draught excluders. These items were on sale in the Museum shop during the exhibition, with the profits going back to Oasis. Through sharing her knowledge and reflecting on her own identity and experiences, unexpected connections to culture and heritage are revealed.
